Jenny Barnes - my why
"I enjoy work and believe work should be rewarding and fulfilling. We are employed to add value after all. So many of my friends and acquaintances are not getting fulfillment out of their work or are overstretched and there are practices in business that just need modernising.
Parenting is an extremely important job, right? And balancing a well-earned career with parenting is extremely difficult. It's great to see more women reaching influential roles in business but I'd like to see more parents free up more time for parenting and being part of their local community. I'm a firm believer that life after kids should not mean total career re-direction. ivity is allowing me to offer my business skills back into the economy and balance career with the responsibility of my family. I'm in exciting talks with other parents who want to offer their business skills in a flexible way to the economy and ivity will facilitate this.
I have founded ivity knowing there is a huge gap in the workplace right now - that is the training provision of technical and cognitive data skills that allow people to organise and track their business so that they can confidently do more of what works and less of what doesn't.
I also wanted to create a space as special as the workplace to allow people to share their workplace stories from their journals. This is for all the people who have a story that is longer than a tweet and not yet a book. Please enjoy our Workplace Matters page and if you want to contribute, please get in touch to find out how."
